Somatic Movement Class
This practice is all about reconnecting with the wisdom of your body. We live in a patriarchal culture that doesn’t teach us how to listen to the body’s messages. The body speaks to us through sensation all day long, but we often override the messages it is trying to send. When we constantly override what the body is trying to tell us, she begins to lose trust in our ability to take care of her.
When the body doesn’t feel safe, she begins to close, shut down, and go numb. This practice is in service to slowing down, turning our attention inward, and creating dialogue with the body. We begin to say to the body, “I’m here and I’m listening… what do you have to tell me?” And we start to pay attention to what she reveals to us.
When the body starts to feel safe and tended to, she can begin to soften, open and reveal more of herself to us. This is how we begin to create a new relationship with our body, ourselves, our felt experience, and our pleasure.
